The electronics manufacturing supply chain is intrinsically globalized, as virtually all IT and communications equipment contains some element of “foreign sourcing” in the research, development, manufacture or assembly process. Consequently, there are very real security issues that need to be addressed in a practical and effective manner. Given the complex technological, operational and political issues involved, tools and procedures must be developed to provide global manufacturers with cost effective solutions that can best address these challenging procurement concerns before costly, potentially conflicting and ineffective solutions are mandated. ISAlliance has developed a framework to address this issue and is working with numerous government agencies toward an integrated solution.
